Emma Bell

Physiotherapist

Emma’s passion is in helping people of all ages restore, maintain and optimise their health. “I thrive creating personalised rehabilitation programmes to help my clients achieve their goals.”

Before joining the team at Freedom Health, Emma worked for a private practice in Karaka, where she enhanced her manual therapy skills and completed post-graduate certification for dry needling.  In addition to treating a variety of different musculoskeletal injuries, Emma led Pilates classes that catered to people of all ages and abilities to improve their functional strength, balance and flexibility.

Outside of work, Emma loves reading, baking, and staying active through running, mountain biking and rock climbing.

Jane Connell

Physiotherapist

“I strive to deliver a high standard of care for my patients combining manual therapy, functional exercise based rehabilitation and Clinical Pilates. I look forward to helping you live an active life.”

Jane studied Physical Education at the University of Otago before heading to the University of Queensland to complete a Post Graduate Masters in Physiotherapy Studies, more recently completing post graduate papers in musculoskeletal rehabilitation through the University of Otago. She is also trained in DMA Clinical Pilates.

Jane’s strong sporting background and love of physical activity has led to work with representative sports teams This has developed her special interest in pelvic control and lower limb injuries and rehabilitation.

Erin Riddell

Physiotherapist

Erin is an experienced musculoskeletal Physiotherapist with a passion for treating dancers. She contracts her services from our Barrington clinic. 

After completing her Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Otago in 2009, Erin spent several years in Sydney working in a dance physiotherapy clinic and teaching Pilates. She then moved to London working at APPI and with the English National Ballet Company. 
Erin is fascinated with the biomechanics of the human body and uses a variety of manual therapy techniques and functional based exercise rehabilitation to get her clients moving.  From her extensive work with dancers she has a specific interest in foot, ankle, hip and back injuries. She also loves working with injury free athletes and dancers to enhance their technique and performance. 

Sarah Abbott

Physiotherapist

Sarah works with all musculoskeletal conditions and has a special interest in postural analysis and the assessment of movement patterns, with the aim of reducing relapse of injury and improving overall function.

Sarah graduated from the University of Otago in 2001 and spent 11 years working in private practice, here in Christchurch.  In 2012 she moved to Singapore, returning to Christchurch at the end of 2019.  

Sarah works with all musculoskeletal conditions and has a special interest in postural analysis and the assessment of movement patterns, with the aim of reducing relapse of injury and improving overall function. She is also a Bradcliffe Breathing practitioner and will work with clients to identify and and treat breathing pattern disorders.

Rosanne Haines

Pilates Therapist

“I am passionate about combining manual therapy with empowering people through knowledge, exercise prescription and Pilates based rehab. I really look forward to helping you to live and move your best.”
With a background in elite gymnastics and ballet Rosanne developed a passion for understanding how the body moves and how we can function at our best. It is through her ballet training that I also developed a love for Pilates.
 
Since graduating with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from the University of Otago in 2010 Rosanne has worked in private practices across Christchurch, treating a variety of musculoskeletal conditions.

Jo Bayliss

Physiotherapist

Jo graduated from Otago University in 1995 and worked as a Physiotherapist in the US and UK before returning to practice in NZ.  She has experience working with elite athletes and recreational athletes old and young.

Jo has a particular interest in tennis players and golfers having worked with many over the years to enhance performance or rehabilitate from injury.

Having gained certification in Clinical Pilates through Dance Medicine Australia in 2004, Jo has instructed classes and rehabilitated clients using Pilates ever since.  

“I am passionate about exercise based rehabilitation, muscle balance along with manual therapy and have a special interest in knee and lumbar spine rehabilitation.”

Hannah Baylis

Physiotherapist

Over the last 15 years, Hannah has developed a wide variety of skills and uses hands-on therapy, exercise prescription and Clinical Pilates to help patients achieve their goals.

After completing her Physiotherapy degree at Otago University Hannah worked in private practices in both Christchurch and London. While working in London she developed her love for Pilates and I has seen first hand the improvement it can make to peoples quality of life. 

“I have a keen interest in spinal and lower limb injuries and enjoy working with people to help them reach their goals whether that be injury related or just improving there general health.”

Over the last 15 years, Hannah has developed a wide variety of skills and uses hands-on therapy, exercise prescription and Clinical Pilates to help patients achieve their goals.

Andrea Kempthorne

Pilates Therapist

Andrea is available for Pilates Initial Assessment, 1-on-1 & Duet Pilates (non ACC) and Pilates Members review sessions.

Several years ago Andrea began at Freedom Health as a client. After a long history of lower back problems she is now a complete convert to the benefits of Pilates. So much so that she decided to undertake her Pilates training and is now part of the Pilates Therapy team at Freedom Health.

Andrea graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Otago Uni in 1999 and over the ensuing years she has worked in many Physiotherapy settings in NZ and abroad before taking a break to bring up her 3 children.

She enjoys working with people to remain active and feel good about themselves and Pilates is an excellent way to do this.

Andrea is available for Pilates Initial Assessment, 1-on-1 & Duet Pilates (non ACC) and Pilates Members review sessions.

Saskia van den Ende

Pilates Therapist/Exercise Physiologist

Saskia is available for Pilates Initial Assessment, 1-on-1 & Duet Pilates (non ACC) and Pilates Members review sessions.

Saskia completed a Masters in Physical Education at the University of Otago before starting work at the University of Auckland in their Exercise Physiology programme.
As a Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist she specialises in the design and delivery of safe and effective exercise programmes for people with various health conditions and injuries.
Saskia is passionate about helping people discover the huge range of benefits that exercise can have and empowering them to become life-long exercisers!

Cath Julius

Physiotherapist & Clinical Director

Cath is currently only available for appointments via referral.

Cath is a highly experienced Australian trained Physiotherapist. After graduating from Melbourne University in 1998 Cath has worked in Private practice her entire career and has experienced working with high level sports teams including the Australian University Olympics team and Collingwood AFL team.

Cath started using Pilates as a method for treating clients some 20 years ago and is a massive advocate for how Pilates can help with movement.

Having started Freedom Health in 2017 Cath is driven by her passion for helping people move and enabling everyone and everybody to keep doing what they love.
